The following are the documents required for research permit application:

1. Filled application form to conduct research in Rwanda [Click here to download the form]
2. Filled affiliation confirmation form [Click here to download the form]  [Check affiliating institutions]
3. Comprehensive research proposal [Click here to download the proposal template]
4. Copy of Identity card or passport
5. CV of principal investigator and research collaborators
6. Cover Letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST)
7. Recommendation letters from supervisors (supervisor from research institution and local supervisor)
8. Recommendation from Institution of affiliation
9. One passport photo with white background
10. Payment of research Clearance [Click here for payment details]

Note: Payment of research clearance fee is done upon receipt of a notification email from NCST regarding the approval of the application and this Payment is non-refundable

For research extension, the following documents are required:

1. Request for Research extension form [Click here to download the form]
2. A letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of NCST requesting for renewal.
3. A letter from the affiliating institution supporting the application for renewal [Check affiliating institutions]
4. A comprehensive progress report and a justification for continuation of project [Click here to download the template]
5. A letter from the sponsor (if any)
6. One passport photo with white background
7. Payment of research Clearance extention [Click here for payment details]

Note:  Payment of research clearance extension fee is done upon receipt of a notification email from NCST regarding the approval of the application and this Payment is non-refundable
