Rwanda Research & Innovation Repository: A Digital Leap for Knowledge Sharing

The Rwanda Research & Innovation Repository is transforming how research and innovation outputs are stored, accessed, and shared across the country’s science and technology ecosystem. Developed under the project “Strengthening Rwanda’s Research and Innovation Ecosystem through Training, Coordination, and Collaboration,” the repository was created through a collaborative effort led by the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) together with national partners, including the University of Rwanda (UR) and CSM Technologies Private Limited, with support from the Research and Innovation Systems for Africa (RISA) Fund

This platform was designed to address a critical need in Rwanda’s research landscape: a centralised digital space where researchers, innovators, policymakers, and other stakeholders can submit, discover, and reuse research outputs efficiently. At its core, the repository supports long-term data preservation, robust search and retrieval capabilities, and secure management of knowledge assets for the benefit of the national research community.

Since going live, the repository is being actively used by researchers and innovators across Rwanda. It now serves as a live digital hub where knowledge is more accessible, fostering collaboration, enhancing research visibility, and supporting evidence-based decision-making. This platform aligns with Rwanda’s broader commitment to building a knowledge-driven economy, enabling research to play a central role in innovation, socio-economic development, and national transformation.
