R&D Dissemination Workshop

Venue: Marriott Hotel

Date: 13th August, 2024

The Government of Rwanda through the National Vison 2050 underscores the need for promoting Research and Development (R&D) as a key driver of science, technology and industrial development for innovation- based economic transformation and growth. The National Research and Experimental Development (R&D) is an important tool for monitoring the performance of the National System of Innovation, its strength in creating scientific knowledge and technological development to support the nation’s ambitious targets for economic growth.

The National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) conducted the Rwanda National R&D Survey for 2022/2023, building on previous surveys from 2015/2016 and 2018/2019. This survey aimed to assess the status of R&D using international standards to evaluate the performance and impact of the country's investment in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI). The findings will guide strategic interventions to enhance research and innovation. To disseminate the results, NCST has organized a workshop to launch the report on the 2022/2023 Rwanda National R&D Survey to take place on August 13th, 2024.

The objective of this workshop is to disseminate the findings from the report, as well as to receive stakeholders’ views on implementation of recommendations, and their involvement in strengthening the national R&D and innovation ecosystem, and the awarding ceremony for researchers.

The workshop will gather representatives from the stakeholder institutions in the business enterprise, government, higher education, and private non-profit sectors, as well as development partners.
