Funding for Innovative Research Projects to strengthen Climate Resilience Strategies in Rwanda
NCST launches a new call for research and innovation proposals to foster climate resilience in Rwanda. With support from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) under the Science Granting Councils Initiative Phase 3 (SGCI 3), the call will support up to six interdisciplinary projects that deliver measurable climate and development outcomes.
Eligible Rwanda-based institutions are invited to lead proposals in climate-resilient agriculture and food systems, biodiversity conservation and ecosystem resilience, water security and climate-resilient water management, clean technologies and circular solutions, and climate science. Projects should generate practical evidence and scalable innovations that can strengthen resilience, reduce emissions, and respond to the needs of communities, policymakers, industry and other end users.
Grants of up to RWF 133,700,000 per project are available for implementation periods of up to 36 months. Applications must be submitted in English through the Research and Innovation Grants Management System (RIGMS) by 7 October 2026 at 5:00 p.m. CAT.
Applicants are encouraged to begin preparation early, confirm eligibility, assemble interdisciplinary teams and review all mandatory submission requirements on RIGMS.
