This call   brings together leading research funders from Rwanda and partner countries ( including Åland Islands, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom) to support transformative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative research that uses disruptive technologies to address pressing global and societal challenges.

Important note:

  • By February 9th, all researchers interested in this funding opportunity are encouraged to register in the "Contact List."  As described on the NFRF call website:
"If you would like to connect with other researchers interested in this call, join our contact list. Complete this survey before February 9, 2026, and you will be added to a list through which your information will be shared with others interested in participating in the call, and their information will be shared with you. By submitting the survey, you consent to the information you provide being shared with other potential applicants."

  • By March 3rd, researchers will need to be members of an eligible project team that is submitting a "Notice of Intent" to apply for this funding opportunity.  In order to do so, researchers need to be part of a collaborative team that meets the eligibility criterion of involving at least three co-Principal Investigators who are eligible to receive funding from three different fund agencies involved in this initiative.  Therefore, it is vital for researchers in each of participating countries to engage in outreach and networking to forge such research partnerships over the coming four weeks.  Joining the Contact List will be hugely beneficial to them in enabling these connections.
