All researchers who apply for research clearance are required to pay non- refundable fees upon approval of their applications. The fees are categorized as follow:

Notes:
- From July 11th, 2023, the National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) is facilitating applicants to pay online through IREMBO.
- Note: Payment of research clearance fee is done upon receipt of a notification of approval in Research Innovation and Grant Management System (RIGMS).
Payments instructions:
Applicants who have applied for a research permit through the Research Innovation and Grant Management System (RIGMS) can make their payment following below steps:
- After submitting your application, NCST team will review the application you submitted and either ask for additional information or approves it if it meets requirements
- As soon as your application is approved, the payment option will be activated.
3. When you click on Pay Now, available payment channels will be indicated showing the amount to be paid
a. VISA, Mastercard and American Express: This is an online payment channel. You can choose one of these cards, enter details and click Pay
b. Cash/ Agent: You can visit the nearest Bank of Kigali branch or BK agents in case you want to pay using cash while in Rwanda.
You will use the bill ID to make payment at the bank branch or at the agent.
c. Bank: Bank of Kigali (BK), has multiple options available for payment:
You can also pay using the Bank of Kigali Mobile App and Internet banking.
You will use the bill ID to make payment at the bank, mobile app or on internet banking.
Note:
- Applicant receives a notification that the service was successfully paid for and track the status of the application on the platform.
- In case of delayed payment, the Bill ID will expire and you will be required to re-apply for a new one.
- After you have paid, NCST team will be able to upload the research permit in the system for you to download and use.
