Our core mission is to provide strategic advices and recommendations to the Government on all matters relating to policies, legislation and regulation in the fields of science, technology, research and innovation and monitor the implementation of such policies and legislation.We also serve as science and technology think-tank for the Government in the setting of priorities for national science and technology innovation, research and development agenda.

The Council

The law n° 40/2017 of 21/08/2017 establishing the National Council of Science and Technology (NCST) and determining its mission, organization and functioning state that NCST is composed of the following management organs: 

  1. the Council; 
  2. the Executive Secretariat;

The Council has the following responsibilties:

  1. to establish the guidelines of NCST;
  2. to provide advice that enables NCST to fulfil its mission;
  3. to determine the categories of activities to be given priority in the use of science and technology;

NCST Public Notice on COVID-19 preventive measures

The National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) Managementwould like to provide the following public Notice to all Staff andPublic:

  1. In line with the Ministry of Public Service and Labour Guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections, only 15% of NCST staff will be present at NCST Office. Therest of the staff will work from home.
  2. All staff are requested to access and abide with the 2-weeksstaff Schedule (to be revised) available on NCST website and notice board

NCST Women in STEM Nomination

The National Council for Science & Technology (NCST), in collaboration with the Next Einstein Forum (NEF), and the Rwandan Association for Women in Science and Engineering (RAWISE), wishes to recognise the outstanding role of women and girls by awarding some of them for their demonstrated commitment and achievements to advance science and technology in the society.

The recognition will take place on 11th February 2021 when the whole world will be celebrating the International Day for Girls and Women in Science.

RESEARCH AND INNOVATION GRANT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RIGMS)

The National Council for Science and Technology (NCST) has mandate to manage the National Research and Innovation Fund (NRIF) and monitor all matters regarding research and innovation funding in Rwanda. In order to effectively achieve this particular mandate, and efficiently manage research grant funding, to enhance research data collection, Research and Innovation Grant Management System (RIGMS) has been developed.

The system is expected to assist in efficient and effective management of research and innovation grants supported by NRIF program, through provision of an online platform to the eligible researchers to apply for research grants as well as research permits.
